NSW Ports needed to understand the actual capacities, capabilities and market demand for container handling in detail at the terminals operated by their tenants: Hutchison, DP World and Toll Group. Seaport were appointed to undertake a detailed analysis of the operations of the three tenants and identify when and how their utilisations would require additional facilities to be provided. Specific issues examined included the optimal use of existing berth length and the forecasting of the size of ships, deployment patterns and how this would influence infrastructure demand.
